(Shaft!) Can ya dig it? Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about (Shaft!) Right on You see this cat Shaft is a bad mother- (Shut your mouth) But I'm talkin' about Shaft (Then we can dig it) He's a complicated man but no one understands him but his woman |

Isaac Hayes, like Barry White, was blessed with that deep, rich bartone voice that rumbled a song along in our ears and resonated with our love of music where words are actually heard. Today, you have to oft times listen closely as the music competes or even drowns out the words of the singer/s.
Truly, coming 24 hours after Bernie's passing, this is a huge blow for the African American community, but especially the Black entertainment community. And what makes it so sad is that neither man led controversial lives, as is the case with so many of today's star athletes and musical entertainers. |

So when Jagdeo passes away, will you say "God bless/rest his bottom"? |

Another legend has passed on. I had planned to see him live at a free concert in Brooklyn's Prospect Park in June 2008. The date slipped me and now I really regret it. "I Stand Accused" will always be one of my top favourites.
May God bless his soul! |

WBLS 107.5FM, featuring host comedian Steve Harvey, is playing some old Isaac Hayes music right now. They just played the theme from the 1970 hit movie, "SHAFT" starring Richard Roundtree. Boy this brings back sunny memories as a high school kid at Central High on Smyth Street under Headmaster Rudy Luck. You know when some popular is really iconic: when they leave a lasting impression, even after they hung up their gloves or passed on.
