Female deportee nabbed with missing passports

A prominent city businesswoman and another man are in police custody following the discovery of a number of brand new Guyana passports that were among the set stolen from the Central Immigration and Passport Office almost two years ago.
The couple was nabbed when the police stopped the vehicle over a traffic violation in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
A search of the vehicle revealed several items among which were the brand new passports, which bore the serial numbers from among those that were stolen.
The businesswoman and her accomplice were questioned and could not give investigators a proper explanation of how they came to be in possession of the stolen passports.
It is believed that the businesswoman, who was previously jailed in the United States of America for trafficking in cocaine, is an integral member of a local backtracking ring.
Kaieteur News understands that she spent last night at the East La Penitence Police Station while her accomplice was housed at the Brickdam lock-ups.
Investigations are continuing.

Seems like everyone who gets arrested these days are a businessman or a businesswoman... not only that she is very prominent yet the reporter does not know her name.

Maybe they should also mention that said businesswoman was before the courts a few months ago on another matter.

If this woman is associated with the missing passports, then she had inside help. One shop dropped, we have to wait for the other shoe to drop.

This charge is currently watered down and reduced to.....only 2 Blank passports found in her vehicle

D2 I bet if those involved were relatives of me, or you, or Moses, Frank Anthony, Gail, Navin Chandrapaul, or even Ramkarran there names will be exposed for everyone to see.

But I guess "Some are More Equal than Some"

It is reasonable to edit names that are not directly involved with the suspect(s). Why must the innocents be exposed to public scrutiny?

We have to wait for the PPP government to release the names of people involved in criminal acts before we can post and comment on these people. If the government does not name these people, but we know who they are anyway, it may be grounds for slander. I know it is absurd, but that's how the PPP government plays the game and others usually play along to get along.
