If Bharat Jagdeo should make a surprise announcement to tender his resignation of the presidency before his term of office is ended?

This is not "if wishes were horses" but the reality impact, should this ever happen.

What would be the political game play for the PPP/PNC and other political party?

How this would actually impact Guyana, the people and its current state of affairs?

Who can replace the president profoundly without hindrance from the opposition until election?

How will it affect the 2011 election on a (Good vs Bad) scale for the PPP?

What other matters can arise from partnership/international/economic/co-operation/trade-partners - CARICOM/ and other foreign relation?

There is no political game play. They have to follow the rules and appoint Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud, who is next inline for the presidenncy.

PJ, I am surprised at your inability to grasp the situation..

It won't happen like this, even though it should happen anyway. Jagdeo has a closet (not that type of closet) full of skeletons that he needs to get rid of before he demits office, or else someone is going to come after him and open that closet and all them skeletons will come tumbling out. Along with thn an offensive stench.

I have posted about the unsolved murders of Indians and criminals and suspects as being the Albatross around the neck of the goevrnment, but beneath those murders is a strong current of ineptitude, corruption and government-sponsored and facilitated criminality that could land Jagdeo before the ICC.

Because Indians are going to vote PPP again, I believe the PPP can either go with Nagamootoo or Ramkarran and pick a successful corporate type for Prime Minister. Do away with this nonsense called Civic. This PM candidate can either come from Guyana or the Diaspora. No politics; strictly business!

Alex,

In layman's language, the Diaspora is any country or group of countries where foreigners live and call their new home. The term Guyanese in the Diaspora means Guyanese living overseas.

There are many professional and corporate-type Guyanese in the Diaspora who can successfully run Guyana on business principles. They are unwilling, however, to sacrifice their professionalism on the altar of political expediency.

Not only that, but Guyana has another problem related to its inability to sever ties with two political parties that put party politicis ahead of sound business principles in managing the economy. For the PPP it is communism. For the PNC it was socialism. Neither of these left-leaning philosophical approaches enabled the economy to come into its true and full potential.

And with the PPP headed by an American-born white woman, you'd think the PPP would be amenable to bringing in American investors to help rejuvenate the economy. Instead, this woman continues to hate the American system and would rather see a Soviet-educated misfit screw up the country's chances of development in order to keep her party in power with the hope of one day having a Cuban-style system in Guyana.

Dream on ... continue thinking like Boy Scouts.

It's all about the retention of POWER and continued access to MONEY and STATUS. A new political elite has emerged. And if you believe that this new political elite will relinquish power to professionals for the betterment of the country then you guys are smoking some serious weed.
