Bosai Mining planning alumina and aluminum capacity expansion in Guyana
Shanghai. September 24. INTERFAX-CHINA -

Chongqing Bosai Mining (Group) Co. Ltd. is currently in talks to build an alumina plant in Guyana, where it has acquired a bauxite mine, and is also looking to set up an electrolytic aluminum smelter and processing plant in the future, a Bosai Mining official told Interfax on Sept. 24.

Guyanese have been waiting 40 years for this venture. Burnham and Jagan disagreed on the location of the plant, that is why today we do not have one.

I hope that Jagdeo is more sensible and agree to build it neat the bauxite company in Linden.

Ramakant I have to correct you but an aluminium smelting plant was built next door to the bauxite plant in Linden. It operated for a short while and then had to close because it could not be supplied with enough energy for it to operate sufficiently.

They still have an energy problem. They should open the old plant instead of putting the country in debt for a new plant which might just fall by the wayside again..

There was never any aluminium smelting plant built in Linden and or in any place in Guyana. Remember groups like Survivors International, Catholic Church,USA and Venezuela etc made sure that never took place.

Correction: it was an alumina plant and not aluminium plant.
