This year's summer Olympics in China git off on the wrong foot when the torch bearing ceremony that touched many nations, was met with hostile protestors who accuse China of heavyhandedness against Tibet and its own people in human rights abuses.

But even though China is on a roll bringing in billions from exports and is spending to the hilt to showcase China this summer, the country has been rocked by earthquakes and aftershocks that compromised the integrity of structures. No report yet on any structural damage to the various stadiums hosting Olympic events, but should foreign countries be worried about sending teams into China this year?

Should China go ahead with its staging of the summer Olympics?

I think you answered your own question, there is no report yet on any structural damage so we should wait until them to decide...

Notwithstanding the current disaster due to "mother nature", thus far there are no compelling reasons why the olympics should not procees.

Surely, there has been at least one committee that was monitoring the progress of development since China was awarded the opportunity to stage the games.

The committee [ committes ] in conjunction with China's Olympic Organization would eventually make the final decision on the future of the games this summer.
