Should be the same man with the car dealership. I think his father was gun down a few years ago. It must be a mini bus owner do him in. People were speculating that he was gonna be gun down a long time ago.

This guy came up here a few months ago and was telling me some story about that same name Akbar. He owns a car dealership and does stiff alot of people. I did not pay much attention to it,since it was typical Guyana PPP runnings.

Robber shoots scrap metal dealer dead
A scrap metal dealer was shot and killed yesterday afternoon in the city during an armed robbery.

Dead is Akbar Ally, 35, of Logwood, Enmore, East Coast Demerara.

His wife, Rabina Ally, 30, told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that she had accompanied her husband to Demerara Bank, had cashed cheques and had gone to King Solomon Shipping on Brickdam to transact business with an auto dealer.

As the couple came out of their vehicle on Brickdam, two men rode up on a motorcycle and one of them, with a gun, demanded of Mrs. Ally that she give him the bag she had with $2.1M in cash.

Mrs. Ally said she did not hesitate and handed the bag over to the bandit. But her husband, who was a few feet away from her, saw what had transpired and yelled at the robber and moved towards him.

The gunman jumped on the motorcycle and drove away as Ally ran after him.

Then the gunman turned around and shot him in the chest.

The wounded man was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving medical attention.

Ally is survived by his wife, two children and scores of relatives who gathered at their home yesterday to console Mrs. Ally.

yes it is indeed very sad. I also have young children and it is every parents fear not to be there for them.

we also seem to have become conditioned to accept these acts as normal.

BB, many of us, and hopefully a majority will never accept these crimes as normal but will at least hate such crimes with a passion if nothing else

have a good one, got to run, take good care of the young ones!
