In an effort to fight against climate change, President Jagdeo has introduced an initiative on climate change. The Jagdeo initiative was first introduced at the Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ Meeting in October and then again at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Business forum in Kampala, Uganda, November 2007.

President Jagdeo’s initiative calls for developed countries to give market-based incentives to developing countries, who can offer their rainforest in service of the world’s fight against climate change.

It is a known fact that developed nations are guilty of contributing the most carbon dioxide emissions to the environment, the leading contributing factor to global warming. In fact, the United States alone contributes 25% of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Jagdeo initiative and India’s initiative on climate change are consistent. Also, in the United Kingdom, President Bharrat Jagdeo’s initiative has been featured on the BBC and Sky News.

another of his opportunistic beggar bowl strategy to generate funds in light of his obvious failure to do so through growth in the economy.

Another strategy of mendicancy intended to earn some quick and easy cash so as to put off the key reforms needed to develop the country.

.

And developed nations who have increasing socio economic problems and an increasingly frustrateded populace are going to dish out tax payers' money?

Adanna keep on dreaming. UNless and until a MARKET BASED solution is developed to resolve this problem, with those who generate carbon emissions paying those who do not, then you will keep loads of trees being cut to ensure that there is enough paper to print your reports on.

You got the most that you will get from "rich" govts. And that is money to fund a study to determine how to acheive this.

If there is a climate Jagdeo should have been fighting to change, it is the political climate in Guyana.

What's the point telling us he is fighting for climate change when he and the PPP have contributed by their assinine approach to politics of absolute selfishness - IT'S THERE WAY OR THE HIGHWAY - to the hostility we are witnessing between the PPP government and the political opposition and the independent media?

This is his motto: SAVE THE GREEN! KILL THE PEOPLE!

What, is he going to end up governing trees and plants and animals in the jungle? Maybe he might end up living with them in a weird style of beastility.

It seems that you do not understand the need for preserving the forests and preparing for Climate change..

Lots of people are blinded by their hatred for the President, due to Jealousness. do you think it is easy to run a country..

What you guys should do is take a hard look at the unsatisfactory yearly review you received at your work place and then go suck on an egg.
