CAPITOL NEWS STATEMENT
In a move reminiscent of the Cold War sixties and the infamous administrations that followed in Guyana, the Administration of the Office of the President has decided to ban journalist Gordon Moseley of WRHM Capitol News from covering Presidential assignments at two locations. The Government Information Agency in a missive to Mr. Gordon Moseley indicated that he is not welcomed on the premises of either the Office of the President in New Garden Street or State House on Main Street. GINA requested that Mr. Moseley apologise for what it calls "disparaging and disrespectful remarks" in a letter that Mr. Moseley as Capitol News reporter had written to the press. Mr. Moseley received the GINA missive late in the afternoon of Monday July 14, 2008 after he had aleady been refused entry to the New Garden Street location on the instructions, according to the Presidential Guards, of the Administration of the Office of the President. Reports of the ban had been circulated since the weekend and the President when asked about it at an informal gathering outside the premises of the Capitol News feigned ignorance of the decision. He however continued to accuse Mr. Moseley, Capitol News, the Antigua Broadcasting Service and the Caribbean Media Corporation of reporting unfairly on his meeting with Guyanese in Antigua. Capitol News and Gordon Moseley have defended their coverage of the events in Antigua pointing out that it was eminently fair, objective, balanced, comprehensive and timely. In fact Mr. Moseley and his team of Miss Melesa Archer and technical editor/cameraman Mr. Yannick December filed over 12 reports from St. John’s, Antigua with impeccable video and audio clarity and only one the Office of the President and indeed the President himself has found to be “flawed†by their standards. The Administration of Capitol News feels that this ban should be lifted forthwith and that the Press be allowed to function within its Constitutional mandate. Capitol News with assistance from the Airline Industry and Private and Public Sector companies and the excellent output from a dedicated, loyal and committed staff shall continue to present the News from wherever it matters to the Guyanese and Caribbean public. It is wholly unfortunate that the Office of the President feels that it must in the spirit of the past regimes over the last fifty years in this country dictate to the press who it likes or dislikes covering an assignment. It is unfortunate too that the current administration seeks to distract attention from more salient matters of national interest and lurch from one contretemps with the media to another. It is important Capitol news feels that the Office of the President should engage in trying to run the country rather than trying to run the media. ENRICO WOOLFORD Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief |

Another day in paradise.
Politicians are supposed to have thick skins. All Baby Kong is doing by this act is exposing his venerability. |

1. It is not uncommon for restrictions to be placed on reporters ... whether in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, etc.
2. There is no reference anywhere in the article, that Jagdeo is a Dictator. Hopefully; A. Captioned hradlines of threads should reflect the titles of the published articles. B. Reference source and links of the articles should be provided. |

You also posted articles with misleading headlines. US candidates practise their U-turns: Your flip-flop headline was meant to be bias towards McCain while making Obama looks good. |

Attacking andbanning a member of the media because of his views and articles, did we not go down this road before, and all decent people at the time condemned those actions. |

Does anyone knows why the President did that to Mosley. Please, I think we first need to hear the whole story.

Nehru, according to the President and his press people poor little Moseley sent a misleading report from the just concluded Caricom summit. He also then letter sent a letter to the media challenging both the President and the state media to identify where and how his report was misleading. |

The whole story is that BJ wants a bias coverage over a fair and balance coverage.

I believe Mosely did file a bias report and should have apologised. That would have been the end of the story. You cant be wrong and strong.

Good evening Ireton. It is requites aon all sites I have visited that reference source and links are neede when posting articles. Regarding the 6 PM newscast, I wss out and am not aware of the contents. Nontheless, the issue of restricting a reporter's access is nothing new. Organizations/individuals need to bear the consequences for their actions when imposing restrictions. |

This banning is to keep Mosley silent on the upcoming trial in October. Capitol News keeps the people inform as to the daily runnings in the NY court where Khan is awaiting to tell the world. That baby king had shipments there too.

Did the Office of the President articulate in what manner Mosley's report was inaccurate? Or did the President just not like the shirt Mosley was wearing? |

The specific thread you references deals with flip-flop statements/positions by McCain and Obama -- and specically related to the title I posted. The titles I use to post threads are specific to the contents of tha articles, with proper reference source and links. The red highlighted statement of yours, plus your personal interpretations of my intentions for the referenced "flip-flop title thread" are baseless, misguided and hence nugatory. Ofcourse Jagdeo doan have to pay the price of his arrogance. Just shoot 15 more guyanese to make a point. Guyana is not America, Canada or Britain. The indians doan care what happens in Guyana and perhaps every black secrectly admires their freedom fighters. What a freaking country-vindictiveness. It would be better for civil/race wars to come real quick. Then we can re-build. A PResident who continually doing assinine things and yuh seying is okay because the ABC countries do it. |

Jagdeo don't want to be criticized! He was allowed to do it to Stabroek News, Sharma. He had run ins with Veira. Who or what will stop him. Kwame McKoy is what he is and I cannot say it here but those who knows Kwame knows what I am talking about.
Guyanese need to grow some balls and step up to the plate to make Guyana a better country free from all those criminals in high places! |
