Guyana new capitol is long over due to remove from the congested Georgetown area and relocate at Port Mourant, Berbice or Providence EBD.
Many third world country have already done so. What would it take Guyana to make such move? |

When you have the resources to do so then it would be worth discussing. For now, please try to maintain roads, water supply, drainage and irrigation, and other things.

I read in the newspapers that the gov't is constructing a building to house the Ministry of labor and Human Resources at a cost of US$3 million. It is about time they do so. All those ministries in Guyana need to be in new buildings. The ministry of finance building looks like an estate bungalow.

We need to move the capital because of incidents like the killing pof akbar yesterday. Leave the ANIMALS, PIGS and DOGS and let our people be able to build a Great nation!!!

Providence is next door to Herstelling which was known for it's "bad men", predominantly Indian, about 20 years ago - notorious criminals who brutally killed and robbed. I think the most famous one was Champion. From what I hear it's changed quite a but now but are these the kind of animals you're talking about? |

Anta where did the killings happened ... Providence, New Providence or Herstelling ? I left Guyana in '81 only 2 murders I was aware of in Providence... Ameridian Guy who lived opposite us... raped & murder an 80 yr old woman next door... he was caught. Other murder was of a GUYMINE employee who was murdered ... murderer never caught... |

They used to rob up and down the East Bank. Champion was shot and killed in Herstelling by his sister's house which was surrounded by police.
I don't have all the details. The issue is where in Guyana is there no crime or "animals"? There was also a gang that lived between Grove, Craig and Friendship who made a habit of robbing gas stations on the EBD. |

Oh Sheesh, Anta... I remember those killings & robbing of gas stations... that was just before I left Guyana... Weren't they caught? My SIL in London, her EX-MIL was slaughtered in Herstelling in the late 80's... Don't know the name Champion... |

"Capitol" refers to the building/offices where government business is chiefly conducted. "Capital" refers to the main city of a country. Georgetown will still remain the "capital city" if the "capitol office" relocates. |
