The govt should just lend $700 billion to banks that are not about to go bankrupt. These banks such as HSBC, and RBC can provide the necessary liquidity with the $700 bill. As for the other banks let them go bankrupt.

it's not as simple as thiat. The aim if to bring liquidity back into the system and try to keep people in their homes. This will not be addressed by throwing money every which way.

why don't you shut up. Get it into your head, not all banks are suffering a credit crisis. There is no need for a bailout.

The bill is once more on the floor of the house. It will pass this time. Unfortunately the republicans, (the small government folks!) added 150 billion dollars in Pork to this critical bill. I hope it fails but it will not. A as barney franks noted, they were held hostage by republicans once again.
