We used to take a canoe or walk across the river, depending on the water levels -- when visiting Lethem or stopping over for lunch.

the other thing was that u were not supposed to pee or # 2 by a certain tree..dem used to say dutchman guh hold yuh..
once i rem a young man got sick after doing that in the backdam and everybody said is because he did it by this tree..
cant remember the name of the tree though '
( cork tree or similar sound)??

You see Lynnie,

Your story is similar to some my dad told;

He claim his dad use to cure people because he had the dutchman powers...and he does tek out jhumbie from people and put them in bottle and bury them...girl i can go on and on wid these stories.

The one with the pee - my Chacha pee on some dutchman grave and the rest well....

Another place I want to go visit when I go back is Orealla, Berbice. They have some crazy rapids up there. Another relative Big Grin visited and brought back pictures..its breath taking!
