The banks are "fighting" with each other for the "heated" market. It is in most cases, a buyers paradise at this time --- some places are offering prime rate MINUS a certain percentage point(s) to gain purchasers' attention and business.

My elder daughter to purchase her home in November 2004 --- I checked out the construction work while the new house was being built to ensure that it meets all the regulations, specifications, etc.

Her house is now valued at more than twice the original purchase-price.

From the historical maps I have on Guyana, specifically, on the names, locations, etc, of villages, towns, cities.

Starting with WAKENAAM, - Big Grin Big Grin -- 'cause that is where my mom was born.

Wakenaam - dutch name -- neans -- Wait for a name.

My understanding was that the Dutch did not have a name yet for the island and hence the name WAKENAAM.

Places on Wakenaam Island, starting from south to north:

Bush Lot

Ridge

Palmyra

Eagle's Rust

Rushbrook

Maria Johanna

New Friendship

Noitgadacht

Good Success

San Souci [my mom's place of birth]

Arthurville

Belle Plains

Sarah

New Belle Plains

Fredericksburg

Damsburg

Friendship

Marianville

Bendorf

Amersfoert

Maria's Pleasure

Bank Hall

Meerzorg

Caledonia

Zeelandia

WaaSalaam Cuzo;

Unfortunately, these maps/plans vary in sizes; a few are about 10 feet long and 18-inches wide.

Were they smaller, I would have scanned and posted them for our collective information.

I will post, eventually, all that I have in a list form like what I did for Wakenaam.

I have two book cases with specific information on my career/work in Guyana, Canada and abroad, which I have indexed, catalogued, etc; - and which are effectively legacies I am leaving for my daughters.

Your library sounds very impressive. I'm sure your daugthers will appreciate that very much.

I was extremely surprised that my two daughters took a keen interest in my engineering -- and were always asking questions.

Once on vacation, I included trips to Grand Coulee Dam, Libby Dam and the Hover Dam. Whe I got to the respective sites, I was amazed at the questions my daughters were asking the guide who was assigned to us -- and they actively took part with the technical simulation procedures and throughly enjoyed the experience.
