Message: It is with a heavy heart that I have learnt about the assasination of Guyana's hard working Minsiter of Agriculture, Hon Satyadeow Sawh, his relatives, as well as, a security guard Mr Robertson. That was a massacre that was carefully orchestrated. The criminals and their bosses must be apprehended swiftly, before they unlease their unbridled terror onto others who are, repotedly, on a hit list. The Guyana government must call in the FBI and Scotland Yard, including the Royal Mounted Canadian Police to help solve these crimes. Too many high profile and low level murders have gone unsolved in Guyana. In addition, the time to re-introduce captital punishment is NOW. Guyana Human Rights Association was not appointed/elected by Guyanese to run the administration of justice in Guyana. It was the PPP/C government that was given that mandate by the people to govern. That bastion of human rights, the USA, executes hundreds of convicted criminals ever year. Nothing is wrong with capital punishment. It works. It's time that all political parties and other stake holders categorically condemn such dastardly acts, and show a unfied front in the fight against crime and violence. It must be made abundantly clear that no one has a monopoly over the use of violence, neither the government nor the oppostion, nor any other group. "No one is safe until all are safe." The law enforcement agencies must vigorously pursue the perpetrators, and leave them no respite. We make a similar call for those innocent persons who have been murdered/executed. Guyana deserves a chance to breathe freely once more. This is the least we can do for our children and future generations. Once again our deepest sympathy goes out to the Sawh and Robertson families, as well as, others who have been brutalized. Message: Our deepest deepest condolences to the whole extended Sawh Family at this very devastating time and also to the Robertson Family at this unbelievably sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, every minute of the day and night. Sattie, all we can do is think about you and the boys ... also the other ruined families. (I can only imagine how brainwashed the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be. A normal human being would have died of guilt already for committing such a demonic act!) Every single person we talk to has been moved to tears by this. We can't understand how such a selfless, hardworking dynamo of a son of Guyana's soil could be assassinated so ruthlessly... these culprits we are sure have never ever done a DECENT day of HONEST WORK or they would have appreciated what this 'Martyr of the Nation' was doing to help all Guyanese get out of the pigsty we were living in pre1992. Our hearts are broken, our blood boils in anger and we have questions to ask.... lots of questions! The most important one is, "My Guyanese Friends of all races, what are we going to do about this?" I know for sure that I will not rest until these worse than dogs are brought to justice!!! Guyanese all, let us unite and fight with words, peace and love for everything that Minister Sash worked so hard for and believed possible. Let us blaze forth with his legacy. Long Live the Guyanese People! My dear Sawh and Robertson Families and every other family that has been hurt by violence, may God's Love fill all our hearts and soothe the turmoil in there. May God Bless us all. P.S. I honestly think that we should set up some sort of fund for Rehannah and her 7 little children. Please let us also work on that. Peace. Message: The high profile of the late minister certainly adds to the publicity quotient of this crime. But we must not forget that many ordinary Guyanese have suffered, are suffering and live with the fear of suffering from such crimes on a daily basis. Indeed, most of the talented sons and daughters who should have been tackling these problems have migrated to the relative safety of foreign lands. Therefore, how much of what is going on should be placed at the feet of those who fled. I admire the courage of those who stayed in the country and fight their daily battles and those who returned to Guyana to make their contribution. I am forced to remember Balram Singh Rai who called for the equalization of the armed forces. Today, after so much suffering, Rai is still relevant. Sent by: The Association of Concerned Guyanese (ACG) TORONTO Message: Toronto, Canada April 25th, 2006 On behalf of the Association of Concerned Guyanese - ACG Canada, I express our deepest sympathy and condolences to our dear Sister Sattie and her two children, Roger and David, at the senseless assassination of our Beloved Brother and Comrade, Satyadeow (Sash) Sawh, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Crops & Livestock in Guyana. Comrade Sash Sawh served the ACG Toronto for over 23 years and was its President for 9 of those years. As a member of the ACG, he was the most vocal in championing the cause for free and fair elections and the return of Democracy to Guyana, within the Guyanese Diaspora. The ACG feels a great personal loss and an extreme sense of outrage at this merciless assassination of such a patriotic and illustrious son of Guyana. In 1992, Comrade Sash unhesitatingly responded to the call to serve Guyana by our late President and Father of our Nation, Dr. Cheddi Jagan. He uprooted his young family from Canada and returned to his Native Land to commence the rebuilding process of his country and people. His commitment and dedication to his work earned him the love and admiration of all Guyanese both inside and outside of Guyana and particularly those in the Constituency that he served. He was a tower of unwavering strength and energy and possessed a wealth of ideas for the growth and development of our nation. His cheerful, fervent nature radiated out a constant stream of optimism to all around, even in the most despondent circumstances. Comrade Sash has left us a true legacy of selflessness, dedication and patriotism in the manner in which he enthusiastically performed his duties in all the ministerial portfolios he has held, and of that we can forever be proud. He stood out head and shoulders above his peers in the Government of Guyana and in our Nation as a whole; like the moon amongst the stars. The untimely death of our beloved brother Sash is surely a severe blow to the ACG Canada, the PPP Party, the Government of Guyana and indeed, to the Guyanese Nation as a whole. Let it be known that the death of our Comrade and Friend will only serve to strengthen our resolve to continue the struggle for a just, peaceful, democratic and prosperous Guyana for all Guyanese, irrespective of their color, race or creed. This is what our brother Sash lived and died for and this, the ACG pledges to his family, the PPP Party and all Guyanese; this, is what we will continue to advocate and promote. The ACG also feels a sense of immense grief and sadness at the wanton slaying of Minister Sawh’s sister Julie and brother Raj, both of Toronto, Canada, and we express our deepest condolences to all of the Sawh’s extended family. We also extend our profound sympathy to the family of the young security guard, Curtis Robertson, who was senselessly slain with Minister Sawh and his siblings. We hereby also pledge to help this unfortunate family in whatever way we can. Finally, the ACG calls upon the Government and the Armed Forces to leave no stones unturned in bringing to justice the ruthless barbarians who committed these heinous crimes and who have terrorized our entire Nation. Let Minister Sawh’s death be the turning point in freeing Guyana from this scourge of politically motivated criminal activities and also let his death inspire us all to move forward together in unity and peace, as One People constituting ONE NATION with ONE DESTINY. May God Bless All. Long Live the Memories of Satyadeow (Sash) Sawh! Long Live the Unity of the Guyanese People! Long Live the Guyanese People! Sincerely, Mani Singh President ACG Toronto |
