On behalf on Leovision and Leonora Reunion Canada
We wish to offer our deepest condolence to the family of the late Mr Lakeram Fromerly of Leonora, former employed at the Leonora Sugar Estate as a tractor driver and was one of the first trained fire fighters at the estate. This father has made great contribution to our community, as a driver was responsible for the distributing drinking water to hundreds of family in the village when there was no potable water supply. Mr. Lakeram was vacationing in Guyana at the time of his death.

In Toronto and New York his children are very active dedicated and members of our community. His eldest son Roy Lakeram is one of the founding members and director of the Leonora Cultural Society and LeoVision Canada, and has been involved in the execution of all its charitable causes.

Family members are making arrangements to have his body brought back to Toronto for final rites and cremation. Dates to be announced.

Mr. Lakeram is survived by his wife Sylvie and 6 children.

I am sad to hear this, I know Aunty Sylvie very well, I went to school with Rudolph, their 2nd son. I spent many times there playing and eating with the family. Neville, Navin, Rudolph, Roy and the other son, I cant remember his name. I remember when the daughter Anita was born, it was a big party uncle Lakeram had. After 5 sons, he finally had a daughter.

I extend condolences to the entire family. Sad very sad.

We wish to inform all members of our community of the following change.

Instead of returning the body of Mr. Lakeram to Toronto as previously announced,
the Lakeram family will be traveling to Guyana to perform the funeral and final rites
for Mr. Lakeram and wishes to apologize for this change.

There will be no wake effective tonight at the homes of family members.

Not sure if that is her call name, but ever since I knew the family that is the name her family calls her. She has 2 brothers, Dilip and Suresh, her sisters names are Leila, another one we use to call Gold dont know her real name and another sister (Doreen) that use to live on the east coast. Her mother lived at the back of us (2nd street) right next to Jacko/Saidoo.
My aunt and Sylvie mother (we use to call her Leila Mother) were the very very best of friends they were like sisters until their dying day, sadly I left Guyana long before they both passed away.

I think you are correct, when I thought it over they call her Golin sometimes, and I think those were the sisters real names too.

Well unless another tractor operator lived on the street, I know this gentleman. I think he has some family or kids in Pennsylvania. Was he not called Shaat Harry?

Regardless, as a born Leonorian, a student of the community and more, I extend my sympathy to the family.
