Couldn't the scholar come up with an explanation that does not involve violence and inflicting pain on others?

No. My problem has never been with the message. It has always been about how that message is being conveyed. There was an indian movie back in the late seventies or early eighties named Suntan where the wife was unhappy that her husband loved his mother too much and she asked him to choose. He demonstrated how both his wife and mother are good for him by using a glass of milk as his mother and some sugar as his wife to show that one sweetens the other while the other makes the one nutritional. No slapping around there and the message was well received. How can that scholar come any close to that demonstration by that husband in that movie?

Dua is the only weapon that the Ummah has.

No one is denying the value of duas. Allah Himself said that we should seek His help in patience and prayer. My question is; do you think that they are working? If so, how?

They work just as Allah (swt) wishes them to...some get their reward in this world while the lucky ones get it in the next...the fact that me or you don't see any immediate benefit is moot.

Everybody has been making duas for the Palestinians for over 60 years and how come those Palestinians are not getting the things that are in the duas? Are we asking for the wrong things for the Palestinians or is the Palestinians destined to be target practice for the Israelis and if they are destined to be target practice for the Israelis, then why are we wasting time making duas for them?

Here the Hindus may have a step up on us because they believe that they will get what they will get and they don't have to make lengthy supplications for them. They use that time to glorify their God instead.

Why do you assume this? You see, your problem is that you measure from this world's perspective...There may come a day when both you and me will envy those same Palistinians when they are recompensed for their patience while you and me are ask about our standing on the side lines arguing about the validity of Ahadith.
Try to see the big picture bai...the biiiggg picture. Allah (swt) is must just and justice will be done.
