I like your use of "(as interpreted by Saudis)", that's the key.
Bro Khaleel in one of his posts made a valid point about people's(or countries) customs and Islam.

The Saudis are supposed to be the "keeper" (if there is such a thing), of Islam...but it's a fact that many Islamic countries differ in their interpretation.....

I guess it's a case of Muslim "disunity"...thus the conflicts between us as a people

Bwoys and Gyals: Re the story of Saudi and the pujari. According to islamic law, that was wrong, as the person's personal practise is not of concern. Is it believable? Yes, the muttawa are wicked. they are xenophobes who do NOT want to see anything foreign there. Look at the report. Indian Muslims reported the man. These immigrants bring their battles from India over there and the Muslims use the idiot police to harass their non-Muslim competitors.
Don't forget in Gujarat similar nonsense happens from the hindu side...check Arundhati Roy...but we DON"T get those reports for two reasons;
1. The gov. of India is secular and does not feel comfortable with the Hindutva propounders although, UNDER THE SYSTEM OF DEMOCRATIC VOTING, the party is the main power base in some areas.
2. the US is allied with India in the battle against invisible terrorism. If Muslims are seen as victims in any area, it gives harsh slap to the face of the US trying to portray ALL muslims as terrorists.
3. Fact of the matter is that many of the Muslim countries are p'od that their power on a global scale is lost. they feel that their 'people' are being discriminated against elsewhere, and so in a clear case of bullying, pick on minorities.
4. This story is rep. of saudi arabia...in other countries such as turkey, algeria..not so.
This is something people forget about saddam....he used to kill his own...at whose benefit? chaldean christians used to benefit from him personally. After the US invasion, when muslims saw US soldiers with crosses, Jesus quotes, they started picking on the Iraqi christians to the point where the latter bemoaned their fate 'under saddam we were better.
5. In the saudi situation, we should all oppose it on the basis of the fact that it was in a house. If it was a communal gathering, Saudi does prevent communal gatherings becaue the Christian evangelists were pulling some crapola a few years back. But the hero in all this: that hindu that refused to stop the puja...that was a MAN. And everybody know that a PUJA is a PERSONAL worship thing...made by someone out of love for the Divine.

bla..bla..bla.
Like Laker said "on principle, the Hindu is wrong. If it is outlawed in Saudi Arabia to worship in his way, then he should abide by the law of that country.
He made choices, and hence he has to live with the consequences". Go back and sleep Khaleel:):):)
