Khaleel since many have lost and scared of your intellectual discourse. I will self immolate myself into thinking that i can debate this topic in your realm of scholarly thinking.

Is Jihad an ordained Philosophy? Can the islamic philosophy become entertwined itself with western society and still retain its uniqueness.

Array, bhaiya..you from rawalpindi? But forget about that...You've asked and I can only answer based on my take on the whole thing as far as I have studied it. I cannot asnswer solely as a faith based person, for then I would only defend. The situation is that it is NOT an ordained or revealed philosphy as many people interpret it. The word comes from a root meaning to exert effort. And one exerts effort to not be a boor etc..all this is part of jihad. But it also goes with the concept of DEFENDING yourself. It alwyas had to do with DEFENDING against an agrressor. AFTER Islam became a state religion, many followers could not, since the islamic polity was the mightiest one in the region, keep it on the defensive. And so they made it into a warrior mode interpretation.
Can Islam retain its uniqueness in a western soceity? Sure. I am Muslim..and I have no problem in western soceity. remember to juxtapose Islam against the west is to create what Edward said calls an 'imagined geography." What is problematic is when Muslims take national customs and make it Islam. Some idiots say we can't shake hands with homans, some say the women (sorry homans--I know you is a canecutta, and I come from a region of canecuttas, so I have to give respect to my people) must cover their head...all this is incompatible with the advancement of society and time. I see no reason for us to argue on this...the religion is unfortunately still in the grasp of traditionists who come from areas where Islam has been the majority religion..and cannot adapt to being a minority. But give them a generation of seeing Britney without buckta and they will get it. Hope you can take a joke.

In Florida. Idiocy. What about the jenny ass who is a policewoman in England and refused to shake hands with the chief because he is a man? What about the idiot doctor who will not touch a man? These, fortunately, are extremists. But the sad part is that this crap is going to Guyana. I went back, gave a relative some Yankee dollars and her thanks? Ow bhai, next time bring one gown for me nuh? "..to dress like she in the middle of the 10th century...while Muslim women in Lebanon are wearing jeans etc.
My coreligionists..some..don't like when I talk like this. It is out of frustration at the stupidity. And nonsensical beliefs over which they argue. On another thread, we are arguing about Jesus coming back. Now tell me..what the hell does that do for me? Traditional Islamic belief teaches that he will come, kill the swine, break the cross and then go kill the Jews. Now, who with a brain in his head would kill the swine? WOuld that not cause a massive ecological crisis? And why..what wrong did the pig do? But moreso..why would anybody with a brain BELIEVE that crap? The Qur'an presents the scenario that we call "realized eschatology" or Inaugurated eschatolgy. Means the end is at hand (As Jesus said in Mark). The Qur'an is not concerned with any battle towards the end of time. Show me if it says so and I will make Abu J my imam. I swear. I really really swear. Krisha...why do I get the impression you as wutless as I am? YOu wan't to go with me to church on Sunday and steal de offerings?

Ask Brothee Khaleel to explain it to you. We are blessed to have a real scholar on board. Who God bless, no man curse.

Kaz;
Now you realize this! I am quite surprised by your continued engagement with this fella. His stance is quite clear and has been for sometime now. Leave the debating for those who enjoy the side show.
