Gaytri Mantra

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx0Qzs1xqUg

Originally the personification of the mantra, the goddess Gāyatrī is considered the veda mata, the mother of all Vedas and the consort of the God Brahma and also the personification of the all-pervading Parabrahman, the ultimate unchanging reality that lies behind all phenomena. Gayatri Veda Mata is seen by many Hindus to be not just a Goddess, but a portrayal of Brahman himself, in the feminine form.[

Sukh Ke Sab Saathee

Sukh ke sab saathee, dukh me na koee..

When I am happy, everyone becomes my friend, but when I have problems, no one comes near me.

Kaam Krodh Aur Lobh

Kaam Krodh aur Lobh kaa maaraa jagat na aayaa raas

Lust, anger and greed have afflicted the world that it can never be place of harmony.

Jab jab Raam ne janma liyaa tab tab paayaa Ban-baas

Even Shri Raam ,a virtuous soul, born into this world, was sent away in exile as result of dishonest scheming.

Sajan Re jhoot mat bolo

Sajan re jhoot mat bolo, Khudaa ke paas jaana hai
Desist from untruths my friend, move rapidly to Khudaa (the Lord)
Na haathee hai na ghoraa hai, vahaa paidal hee jaanaa hai
Don't wait for an elephant or a horse, use your feet for this journey.

Doosaron kaa Dukhraa

Doosaron kaa dukhraa door karne waale, tere dukh door karenge Raam.
O Man, mitigate the pains and sufferings of others, your's will be eliminated by the Lord.

Kiyejaa tu jag mein bhalaaee kaa kaam, tere dukh door karenge Raam.
Do good in this world by always working for the welfare of others... By doing so, your miseries will disappear!

Happy Father's Day to all...

I feel this song was influenced by the verses in the Vedas.... Matr ki bhav, pitr ke bhav.. On earth mothers and fathers take the form of your earthly Lord.

Ye to sach hai ke bhagvaan hai

Title: ye to sach hai ke bhagavaan hai
Film: Hum Saath Saath Hain (United, We Stand.)

ye to sach hai ke bhagavaan hai hai magar phir bhii anjaan hai
dharatii pe ruup maa.N baap kaa us vidhaataa kii pahachaan hai
ye to sach hai ke …

It is utmost truth that God exists. He is our Creator and Benefactor. On earth we recognize Him/Her in the form of our loving mother and father.

janmadaataa hai.n jo naam jinase milaa
thaamakar jinakii u.ngalii hai bachapan chalaa
o kaa.ndhe par baiThake jinake dekhaa jahaa.n
GYaan jinase milaa kyaa buraa kyaa bhalaa
itane upakaar hai.n kyaa kahe.n ye bataanaa na aasaan hai
dharatii pe ruup …

Our father assisted in our birth, he gave us an identity in the form of his name. When we held on to his hand and learned to walk, he was teaching us how to take the steps in life. When he placed us on his shoulder, he was showing us the world and from him we learned the difference of good and bad. Words cannot describe or it is beyond telling how much we owe him.

janm detii hai jo maa.N jise jag kahe
apanii sa.ntaan me.n praaN jisake rahe.n
o loriyaa.n ho.nTho.n par sapane bunatii nazar
nii.nd jo vaar de ha.Ns ke har dukh sahe
mamataa ke ruup me.n hai prabhuu aapase paayaa varadaan hai
dharatii pe ruup …

Our mother gave us birth and brought us into this world. As her children, her breath resides in us. With her hands, she rocks us or taps us to sleep while singing sweet lullabies, she weaves dreams. When we are sick, she goes without sleep and with a smile she endures every sorrow. The Lord in the form of our mother, gave us this blessing (motherly love).

aapake khvaab ham aaj hokar javaa.n
us param shakti se karate hai.n praarthanaa
o inakii chhaayaa rahe rahatii duniyaa talak
ek pal rah sake.n ham na jinake binaa
aap dono.n salaamat rahe.n sabake dil me.n ye aramaan hai
dharatii pe ruup …

O loving Mom and Dad, we are your dreams, today we have grown up and in our prayers we ask that we stay in protection of the Almighty as long as we live. Even for a moment, we cannot imagine life without you. Our wish is for both of you to live in eternal happiness.

In the song, the question, "What can a father expect of a son after he departs from this world?" The answer in the last verse.

Normally, I would do this song to celebrate the birth of son or the passing of a father. Depending on the occasion, we can draw on the relevance of the lyrics. Today, I see it as an item for fathers' day reflection.

In this song, from Ek Phool Do Maali, Maana Dey does a beautiful rendition where the father is so happy at birth of his (Raaj-Dulaaraa) first born son, contempaltes on the his child and the various names.

Tujhe Sooraj Kahoon

Tujhe Sooraj Kahoon Ya
Mm mm mm mm, mm mm mm, mm mm mm - 2
(Tujhe sooraj kahoon ya chanda Tujhe deep kahoon ya taara
Mera naam karega roshan Jag mein mera raaj dulaara) – 2

Should I call you the Sun, or moon, or should I call you a lamp or the sun. ( you have brought light into my home) Through you my darling (pet) child, my name will shine.

Main kab se taras raha tha, Mere aangan mein koi khele
Nanhi si hansi ke badle, Meri saari duniya le le
Tere sang jhool raha hai, Meri baahon mein jag saara
Mera naam karega roshan Jag mein mera raaj dulaara
Tujhe sooraj kahoon ya chanda, Tujhe deep kahoon ya taara
Mera naam karega roshan, Jag mein mera raaj dulaara

For years I longed for a child to play in my court yard (aangan)
In exchange for your innocent smile, I was willing to give up all my joys. Let me rock you my child, for then it’s like rocking the entire world.

Aaj ungli thaamke teri, Tujhe main chalna sikh laaoon
Kal haath pakadna mera, Jab main buddha ho jaaoon
Tu mila to maine paaya, Jeena ka naya sahaara
Mera naam karega roshan, Jag mein mera raaj dulaara
Tujhe sooraj kahoon ya chanda ,Tujhe deep kahoon ya taara
Mera naam karega roshan, Jag mein mera raaj dulaara

Today, I am holding you by the fingers and I am teaching you the first steps in life. Tomorrow (kal), when I am stricken with old age, I will lean on you and you will become my walking stick. In having you, I can now be sure of support in my old age.

Mere baad bhi is duniya mein, Zinda mera naam rahega
Jo bhi tujhko dekhega, Tujhe mera laal kahega
Tere roop mein mil jaayega, Mujhko jeevan do baara
Mera naam karega roshan ,Jag mein mera raaj dulaara
Tujhe sooraj kahoon ya chanda,Tujhe deep kahoon ya taara
Mera naam karega roshan, Jag mein mera raaj dulaara

When I shall leave this world, through you, my name will continue to live. Whenever, anyone see you, they will call you by my name and in acknowledging you as my dear son, I will be invoked and will become as alive again, (that is my features, traits… will be present) in your body.
