Bhai..I don't mean to dig it in anybody heah..but that rasspakah "al haj". Dem bhais respect de man because he comes up with a traditional view that SEEMS to give a logical explanation for a custom...but a deeper look only shows he is into obscurantist medievalism....next thing u know he might say that slavery ought to be reinstated since the Q asks us to free slaves.
Philosophical question: if God wants u to free slaves, then there must be slaves. Conclusion: let us ensure therefore that there are slaves to be freed. Better view: That was a verse for when there were slaves. Meaning that the Q legislation is set in history and must, where possible, be read as such... For a good take, read Khalid abou el fadl's "The great theft." |
