If life can be rough with faith, imagine what it would be like without it....have a wonderful day all.

Recently I overheard one of the faithful saying 'lord give me faith'...
Does this mean there was none before?

Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, since each of them is irreplaceable and, once gone, can never be retrieved. Do not be like the deceived fools who are joyous because each day their wealth increases while their life shortens. What good is an increase in wealth when life grows ever shorter? Therefore be joyous only for an increase in knowledge or in good works, for they are your two companions who will accompany you in your grave when your family, wealth, children and friends stay behind. There is no good in wealth without generosity; there is no good in brotherhood without caring for one another; there is no good in a blessing that is short lived; and there is no good in supplication without sincerity. [Ali radi Allah anhu]

Never do I argue with a man with a desire to hear him say what is wrong, or to expose him and win victory over him. Whenever I face an opponent in debate I silently pray - O Lord, help him so that truth may flow from his heart and on his tongue, and so that if truth is on my side, he may follow me; and if truth be on his side, I may follow him. [Imam Al-Shafi’i]

Before you act

Before you act, consider what you are doing and why; whom you are acting for? Stir up a sense of thankfulness, a sense of longing, hope, fear, slavehood.

Bring to mind the majesty, tremendousness, beauty and mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. And then begin your action. So that moment before you act, the moment in which you turn your heart to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is of the greatest moments of your life.

And if we make ourselves accustomed to keep striving to turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in those precious moments we’ll find that our lives will be coloured with the dye of spiritual favour from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, we’ll find our hearts and our entire life being enveloped in divine assistance and divine favour. And we’ll find light and serenity and contentment in our life.”

A Lesson from Disabled People

Once, a visitor was being shown around a leper colony in India. The colony was built to provide a shelter for those people who were poor and had various physical disabilities.

At noon a gong (a metal disk that produces a sound when hit with a hammer) sounded to gather the inhabitants for the midday meal. People came from all parts of the compound to the dining hall. Suddenly, everyone started laughing at seeing two young men, one riding on the other’s back, pretending to be a horse and a rider.

They were having lots of fun. As the visitor watched, he was told that the man who carried his friend was blind, and the man being carried was lame (who couldn’t walk). The one who couldn’t see used his feet; the one who couldn’t walk used his eyes. Together they helped each other and reached their destination.
Let us use each other’s strengths to make up for the weaknesses of others. Our strength is in unity, not in division.

Peace: ah see where u coming from. beautiful thought. But in essence, it is against abrahamic praxis..becuase it is essentially making a false promise. Of course, on a personal level, to set a higher standard for yourself that you think possible may be commendable..but it sets up for a downfall. Good question? If so, on what grounds?
