:-). I don't celebrate it apart from the religious aspect..since some might rightfully state that its ritualistic origins are not present in its modern practice. I just view it as nonsense, and do not want to train my kids to go asking for stuff...and of course, the paranoia that I have as a father...what happens if the stuff is tainted? Pins and needles are one thing..what about poison? What about someone in my neighborhod giving the kids tainted stuff..who do you think is the first person they will look at as a culprit? IN Islam and in ANY OTHER RELIGION, the idea ought to be "don't do that which opens the door to self destruction". |

This so call "pagan" holiday is just a fun thing for children and adult alike. People have an opportunity to display them selves as a character of an angel, evil, or what ever. Now, to ask a Muslim view on it, you will hear 100 versions of lies. |

Quite the opposite. But I never for a second forget that in an 'upper class' neighborhood, one simple accusation can bring out the worst in people, and you see the latent racism erupt into a raging holier than thou attitude. Dara got them figgered out. Behind all the fake smile and so on... |

Actually, u hit closer to home than u think. I was down to 147 and went out of town for a few days at a hotel where there was eggs and hash browns every day for brekkie (I dont normally have anything but coffee for brek), and lunch two hours later with desserrt etc, and dinner with all the trappings, NOw I am up to 153 again. Free food is a bane. I think I need some mauby to swallow this fact. |

That is why we need to chill out on commenting on the problems in other communities because we have so many that we cannot defend ourselves when others responds. Lets try to clean our own house and atleast show some disgust for what our own are doing in the name of our noble religion.

This is just one of the problems this Ummah is so worried about, we are too worried and concern about what the society and community feels and thinks of us. We should be worried about empowering our own Muslim communities and then look to get involved in the other aspects of society. Fix our house first before we go out to look at others. I see the Masjids were very busy reaching out to non Muslim members of the community when we have so many of our own not attending the prayers. This is where we should be focusing all of attention to and do all we can to strengthen this Ummah? The politics is creeping into our deen. |
