· The newly constructed $15 M Masjid Nur-ul-Islam at Tuschen, New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was officially opened on Sunday 11th March 2007, in memory of the late Yacinth Ali. The opening saw a large gathering and the programme included prayers and thanksgiving.
Yacinth Ali was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Itwaru Seepersaud of Good Intent, Leguan, Essequibo. She migrated to the United States with her husband and family in 1986 and resided in Richmond Hill, New York. She was buried in the Linden Cemetery in Rose Hill, New Jersey on May 29, 2004. She was described as a devoted wife and mother who left a very closely knit family whose strength is founded in loving and sharing. Her husband, Shafiat Ali, and children, Shazam, Suriah and Shafraz, two grand children and daughter-in-law, Ameera Ali, were all there yesterday for the opening of the masjid. The project was funded by the family.
