I think I talked about this before. Many of us rush to put down other religions. THe fact is that if we check our facts, we need to learn more about our own. This way our hearts will be engaged in something good. But if you don't know enough about your own, you ought not to go throwing stuff at others. ESPECIALLY when you don't understand the language of symbolism, or when you can't separate the religious teachings from the actions of the people. If anyone here can name me a religion where people have not, in its name, done some of the worst shit, I will follow that religion. The only problem is you gotta prove your point.
There is no such thing in OUR possession as absolute truth...we all STRIVE towards it, and for each one of us, our effort should be towards that truth. The good thing about it is that if our efforts are sincere, we cannot find it in our heart to insult others for our hearts become pure.
Does this mean that we can't respond to polemic? not in my mind...but response based on fact, with due regard to circumstance, temporality, spatiality inter alia is the only one that can be deemed objective. If you are just going to spew hate, you are just being a poster person for bigotry...the very antithesis of the supposed holy way that you are walking.
Just a thought. For that sermon, you may send your tax deductible contributions to "Dara Shikoh's Mercedes for the Indigent Charity".
Thank you. Like d-G, I doff my topi. Pull up my dhoti. Ram ram, salaam, sat sri akaal, shalom, haul yo tail and any other fine greetings you can think about. But send the donations. Before my merciful excellency puts a fatwa on your miserly butt.

All ... religions show the same disparity between belief and practice, and each is safe till it tries to exclude the rest. Test each sect by its best or its worst as you will, by its high-water mark of virtue or its low-water mark of vice. But falsehood begins when you measure the ebb of any other religion against the flood-tide of your own. There is a noble and a base side to every history. (Thomas Wentworth Higginson)
