Austin Joseph App (1902-1984) was a German-American professor of medieval English literature who taught at the University of Scranton and LaSalle University. He is known for his work on the Holocaust, and he has been accused of Holocaust denial by mainstream historians.

In 1973 App laid out eight "axioms", or what he described as "incontrovertible assertions" about the Holocaust in his 1973 pamphlet The Six Million Swindle:

Emigration, not extermination, was the German Nazi plan for dealing with Germany’s "Jewish problem".
No Jews were gassed in any German concentration camps and probably not at Auschwitz either.
Jews who disappeared during the years of World War II and have not been accounted for did so in territories under Soviet, rather than German, control.
The majority of Jews who were killed by the Nazis were people whom the Nazis had every right to "execute" as subversives, spies, and criminals.
If the Holocaust claims have any truth, Israel would have opened its archives to historians.
All evidence to support the "hoax" of six million dead rests upon misquotes of Nazis and Nazi documents.
It is incumbent upon the accusers to prove the six million figure.
Jewish historians and other scholars have great discrepancies in their calculations of the number of victims. (App 1973, 1977).
App’s work inspired the Institute for Historical Review, the California center of Holocaust denial founded in 1978. The Institute’s chief spokesman in the UK is David Irving, an admirer of Adolf Hitler. (Irving 1977). Irving’s nemesis has been the American Jewish historian Deborah Lipstadt, who has spearheaded the scholarly battle against Holocaust deniers. Irving lost his libel suit against Lipstadt and her publisher. (Lipstadt 1993, 2005; Evans 2001).

The writer is an American college professor not Iranian. I assume they teach this in American colleges.

it his opinion.... and I do not think they would allowed him to teach that in college even though he is a professor. You should check or maybe you turn the other way lol..... about what is in the text books in Saudi and what they actually teaches there.

There are professors with diverse opinions teaching in American universities. It does not mean that what they believe is correct or even close to the truth. Some of them write a lot of crap just to sell books because there's a market for those who try to rewrite history.

p.s. This guy was teaching medieval English literature at two American universities. Do you think that the holocaust would be included in his syllabus? :-))

when it comes to figures...the Jews are the first to admit that in terms of actual numbers it was 5 mill and some...and it makes perfect sense for them to say 6 mill than 5, 999, 994 or so. but that is besides the point. the holo. was evil and wrong..even if one jew were killed.
PP: I studied in SA>>they don't deny the holocaust. i hear a lot of refer to arab texts..how about israeli texts..how about the systematic denial of the pal as a human..i was in isreal and hae been subjected to the institutional propangda.

I am willing to go out on a limb here...if you guys have NOT visited the holocaust museum in wash...and are involved in a large corporation in your line of business...i can probably arrange for a sponsored tour. the museum is called 'museum of tolerance' for a good reason. there is some subtle propg. in the program, but rather than look for prop, look for what is evident...and we shoiuld not be questioning the figs...the aftereffect and potential effect was way more than 6 million.
worst of all, it represented what happens when we mix religious bigotry with nationalism. we now try to deny thta there was religion involved...there was. And guess who played a role in SAVING Jews...the turks and iranians., among some other nations.

I am not avoiding the issue. I know there was a holocaust and gas chambers. My father was in the army in WWII and he had a bunch of photographs of the death camps. However, while many Jews were sent to the gas chamber, personally, I doubt it was as much as 6 million.


My point is that Ahmadinejad is taking flak for his views while prominent Americans also have those same views, but it's pushed under the rug.

this is one of the problem .... folks only uses stuff selectively. You cant want to use the person hand but ignore the legs. Ahmadinejad is an idiot. He would probably do the same as Bush if he has the power to do so. Muslims dont need folks like him. He just said the other day "The Hidden Imam runs the affairs of Iran and of the rest of the countries of the world" " and will rule the world" etc ... just the other day. What non sense is this? Some clerics rebuked him over that.

Prominent American? Don't mek me laugh. This guy is a nut. While the figure may be less than 6 million, people who make statements such as the one this crackpot made, seriously need to have their head examined - Austin App "No Jews were gassed in any German concentration camps and probably not at Auschwitz either."

While that may be true, why would 6 million people go meekly to their deaths instead of some form of resistance?

there wwas resistance actually..in poland etc. but in the beginning, they were told that they would be relocated. then there was nationwide demonization of them as a people..the jews were in disbelief taht a 'civilized" nation could commit that sort of atrocity....the same way that we are in disbe. now that a modern superpower can put little boys in guantanamo..

I haven't read any of his works so I cannot pass judgement on him yet. The other crackpot that you started out with was definitely a nut as is Ahmadinejad. When you can declare with a straight face that the Holocaust was a myth or that your country has no homosexuals, you definitely have a few screws loose.
