Bhai. I was rushing to get to work. And since in SD it is 80 deg plus today, them short skirt grabbed my attention more than philosophical musings would have. I had my pickness wid me though so I had to pretend I was looking at the things written on their tattoos.

ON the one hand, Abu's statement is fair and I can't argue with it. So I accept that. I note that another (not Abu) chose to remain quiet on the larger issue and talk about Jihadist. From a legal and academic viewpoint: I defined that yesterday. End of story. To those of you who offered me good advice, I thank you. As Krishna and Villo are aware, there are several who would benefit from the negativity of litigation. In all honesty, some outsiders were all agog about this. But who would have suffered? Innocents on this site that was set up by a bunch of good people.
RE Krishna's posting about intellect: I somewhat disagree. REligion happens to be my field....and my academic approach therefore might force me to go against that which is cherished by some. In each of our fields, I guess we use terms and see things that those outside may not perceive. At least this entire unsavory episode forces ME also to stay away from personal insults. To avoid things degenerating into such, I will sometimes simply ignore some questions from some. To those who were so sweet to send PM's: thanks. IT makes me feel good to be a Guyanese.

Now back to my original postings. What I wanted to point out was the fact that this man continuously coins the word Jihadist to refer to Muslims such as myself and others who hold to a more conservative view of Islam.

YOur point is well taken Abu!!

Jihad i read years ago means to fight against evil temptations, to perfect oneself.

Correct bhaijan. But today, it has an evil connotation. Like how the word gay is looked at differently today. There was a time when people didn't mind being called gay. Well, it is becoming more and more acceptable with each passing day, thanks to everyone loves Raymond, et al. :)

I still continue to avoid responses to certain posters: but there is a difference btween conservatism and non-conservatism. WHen verses are misued...yes again, I point out the issue of translation and knowledge of meaning--to advocate meanings that are nonsensical or triumphalist, then I will refer to such interpretations in the appropriate manner.

Jihad i read years ago means to fight against evil temptations, to perfect oneself.

To be honest i dont know but BK knows what am talking about since the term is not new to us here, many of us have been labelled Jihadist or terrorists. Bk knows the runnings. If we talking about Indian abuses in Kashmir or the occupation of Iraq/Palestine we are all called Jihadists or terrorits. Even travelling here in the Middle East some have accused me of getting arab/terror money to fund my overseas travels.

Many times threats of reporting me to Homeland Security were made and i get grilled at most airports, and , i had many strange things happened, which i will not indluge to discuss here

maybe i have not read all the post or follow the discussion well but his definition of jihadist= someone who wants to take over the world and impose islam by violence; and there are some on gni who are national treats.

Well D2 is not cheering and he is not a Muslim.

Ah I see. Nah..I was referring to the mentality of some here in defending muslim excesses and wanting them not to be pointed out, among other things. I am responsible only for my address of the term to others. I agree the term is used indiscriminately...if you surf the web you will see "militant islam monitor' and "jihad watch" call me a jihadist.

hmm.either I have amnesia or words are being put into my mouth. While I do not deny that as one of the facets of jihadism, my definition posted here was not couched in such terms.

Jansher: is there not a system where you can do some sort of registration? I don't get grilled anymore...I am assuming there are codes entered...but don't forget where you are travelling as well. Don't ever lose your cool when being grilled. I ain't talkin bout the US. I talking about in MOrocco and the Arab countries. A word to the wise. I friggin mean it.
