A beautiful bhajan filmed on Meena Kumari and sung by Asha Bhonsle.

I was blessed to see Asha do this live but the intro prayer was from the opening pages of the Gita.

Mai hu sansaar ke haathon me, sansaar tumhaare haathon me.

The fundamental difference between me and You, O Lord, is that while I am human, You are Master of all humans. I am in the hands of the world and the world rests in Your Hands.

This is one of my favourites. Actually, it is not an Arya Samaj bhajan. I was told by my Hindi teacher that this a very old and traditional Bhajan that is sung by the children in the primary schools in various parts of India.

Our own Rookmin Sitaram,who now resides in NY and who happened to perform with my group on many occasions, sang this on the album Bhakti Bhajans out of Guyana in the 60's.

Anyway I have sourced the translation from the Atmaa Geet except for verse 2.

That was Sita and she can imitate Lata's voice. We did Aja re pardesi on TV with her. Your mom is a good singer too.

Hi Mitwah...my fav line in this song is ek BRAHM hai, ek SATYA hai...ek hai PARAMATMA..some how this never seems to impact the masses...even the learned seem not to accept this universal truth...oh well...thks.

Very philosophycal indeed. The message here is for us to let the stream of love (Ganges methphorically) flow in society. With the light from our heart, let us kindle every heart of anyone that we meet on life's path.

Since, we are from one creator who created us from the same fabric, why this divisness of high and low, racism etc.... Who taught us to fight?

We are urged to be compasionate and to share our resources with the poor.
