Hi IK, and I thought that there was resemblance of his Mom, but one thing we know is that he is handsome unlike Abhishek, and has an extreme film's actor's look, befitting the Kapoor's Clan, and blazing the screen now, and will continue to do so, I hope in the future.

RANBIR KAPOOR:

Ranbir Kapoor (born September 28, 1982 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood Movies.

Born to popular actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Kapoor is the brother of Riddhima Kapoor. He is the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, and the grandson of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. His uncles are Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, and his cousins include Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda.

In a recent interview, Kapoor confirmed his relationship with Deepika Padukone to the media saying, "We've been dating for the past couple of weeks. I am very happy in my relationship with Deepika...I want to be this way all the time.

Career

Kapoor made his debut in November 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. The film failed to do well at the box office, though he received many positive reviews for his portrayal of the lovesick singer, Ranbir Raj. Critic, Taran Adarsh commented, "Ranbir Kapoor is supremely talented, no two opinions on that. Yes, he looks handsome, but what you carry home is the sincerity in his performance. If that's the [high] level of performance in his debut film, this lad will only make the Kapoor clan proud in years to come. It's a 10 on 10 for this debutante."

Kapoor is currently filming for Siddharth Anand's Bachna Ae Haseenon along with Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba.

He’s the fourth generation of the first family of Bollywood, the illustrious Kapoor khandaan. After a lot of media attention and secret shooting schedules, Ranbir Kapoor finally made his debut into the big bad world of Bollywood, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya.

And naturally, this Kapoor with a handsome face and immense potential left a mark on the audiences. Cheers then to him, for receiving the Glam Debutant (Male) award at the Reebok Zoom Glam Awards 2008. “Let me begin by saying that I am feeling on top of the world. This is my new career’s very first award. I would like to thank Zoom television,” said the dashing actor.

When asked about his personal style statement, Ranbir quipped, “I don’t have a style statement. I wear whatever I feel comfortable in.” And who does he consider to be his glam idol? “My mom, Neetu Singh!” he smiled.

His debut performance was appreciated by critics, while he created quite a flurry with his towel-dropping scene in the film. And the young actor has already got a heap of offers and another signed film up his sleeve. Looks like it won’t be long before he vies for the Glam Actor award, what say?

Neetu Kapoor on Ranbir Kapoor

Q: Are you nervous about Ranbir’s debut?

Both my husband and I are nervous. But since I’m stronger I keep it inside while he’s a nervous wreck. He won’t even be here for the release of Saawariya. He’s off to Chandigarh for a two-month outdoor shoot. I feel the same way about Ranbir’s debut as I felt when my daughter Ridhima got married. People keep complimenting us about Ranbir. But until the film comes out we won’t know the actual verdict.

I think he's a splitting image of his mom.

Don't care too much for him...he's got that soft helpless look (I want to say effeminate). But I wish him well. Smile

Ri, We all do wish him well, despite of his soft looks (effeminate) this is what might be his trump card, with two film under his belt, one no so great, and the other yet to be released, he is certainly making a name for himself, maybe because of the Kapoor's Clan popularity. As a new comer, the spotlight is on him.

You are right, it worked great for his dad, who was known as the teeny bopper and heart throb of the lates 70s and early 80s. Being from the Kapoor's dynasty is certainly a trump card for him.

Neetu Kapoor on Ranbir Kapoor

Q: Ranbir seems closer to you than to his father.

Isn’t that the way it is with most children? Kids are a reflection of the mother. Both my kids are gentle and in school they never behaved like star-children. My husband’s work was such that he was never home. He never knew about homework, PTA meetings and the kids’ daily routines. We were together for lunch, dinner and vacation. Ranbir didn’t get a chance to be close to his father until he assisted him when my husband directed Aa Ab Laut Chalen. Now that my husband has been home more often Ranbir has become close to him too. He’s much closer to me.

Agree with you Ri when you say "Kapoor's dynasty is certainly a trump card for him."
But to take the discussion a bit further, if we were to
look back at the Kapoor's Men, we would at first glance noticed that same (effeminity) demeanor was prevalent, with Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and quite a few more, but we have seen them throughout the years become very good actors and if not great actors.
Would love to see Ranbir do a "Laila Majnu" eclipsing Rishi in which we can say was one of his greatest acting performance. Wink

I totally agree with you on the male Kapoors except for Shashi. He was a man! Big Grin Whoo, did I love him! He had an endearing mischievious smile.

Back to the topic, Ranbir would make a good Majnu indeed. In fact, love themes would be his thing. I can't see him as a fighter or in a bad guy role.

IK, The RK Banner was noted to give us some of the best movies when it was operational, but there was no one to take over the reins, it is hoped that Ranbir might have the guts to do so:

Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor - Battling the expectations

What most of the new acting aspirants fail to realize when they complain about the pedigree and bias in launching star kids is; the extra amount of pressure that is imposed on starlets in living up to the standards of their blood relations.

The destiny of these star-kids is predefined and they face challenges in living up to the family legacy and performance standards. An average performance which can bring a non-star-kid newcomer accolades brings these same star-kids brickbats for not being able to surpass their parent’s skills. The expectations are high and only sheer hard work can help them continue to exist in the industry. Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are no exceptions as they get readied to face the verdict on their acting talent with their debut movie ‘Saawariya’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

“They are both extremely talented — the genes do count for a lot,” says acting mentor Roshan Taneja who trained them for Saawariya.

Rishi Kapoor wishing his son the best of luck in all his future endeavors says “I get the jitters just thinking about Ranbir’s debut. I’m not nervous about the boy. I know he’ll surface. I’m confident of the boy. He’s trained to be a good actor. Now how good or bad he is, we’ll only come to know after the film releases. I’ve not seen even the rushes of Saawariya. All that I know is that Ranbir will work hard.”

An anxious father, Anil Kapoor can only wish her all the luck as she has to find her own place in the film industry. “I’ve seen portions of Saawariya and Sonam has been completely groomed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. What Sunita and I have tried to give her is our values. And I’ve tried to give her whatever experience I have in the industry. But at the end of the day, it’s the director and producer of the film you have to look up to and give your best to,” he said.

There is a popular saying which reads, “Don’t judge a book by its covers” and same in judging the acting talents of these star kids. Rate them for what they are and their ability is and not for what their parents are.

Ranbir Kapoor’s fan club wishes both Ranbir and Sonam good luck on their first step to success.

The saying ‘Like father, Like son’ is just unapplicable in this contemporary. The present generation is always a step ahead of their fathers. While dad Rishi, 55, was famous for playing charming loverboys on screen, son Ranbir goes a step further and hits the jackpot in one film itself. The 24-year-old lad will get the chance to twirl around trees with four beautiful women, all in one film!

The project under Yashraj Films will be directed by Siddharth Anand. Besides an all-star cast, it will boast of Ranbir’s frolics’ with four well-known actresses. They are reported to be beauties Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Amrita Rao, who’ll play the leads opposite Ranbir.

Says a source close to the production company: “Aditya Chopra (the boss) is very fond of Ranbir. He has been in talks with these four actresses and if all goes well, Ranbir will soon be seen romancing these ladies on screen. The film is expected to be completed by December.”

Ranbir, still better known as Rishi Kapoor’s son, is meanwhile made his debut last year in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, a Sony Pictures film and the first Indian movie produced by Hollywood. Adapted from the 1848 short story White Nights by renowned Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky, the film also stars Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Sonam Kapoor (no relations to Ranbir). It’s about dreams, love and loss, and happiness. It’s has hit the theatres in November 07, The film did not fare well, but the prowess of the actors were recognised.
