You definitely must have drooled over her when she set the screen on fire with her sizzling item numbers in Dum and Rakht . But Yana Gupta that so far what she has revealed is just the tip of the iceberg.

Talking to a leading entertainment portal, Yana who sizzled in item numbers 'Babuji' and then later on in 'Oh! What a Babe', says that her assets, if revealed, can give many actresses a run for their money.

"I have not strutted my stuff yet. If I start showing off and try to look sexy, many actresses will not get a sound sleep. Till now, whatever I did was just the tip of the iceberg. The day I will show the whole iceberg, no one will stand in any competition against me," she states.

At times Yana feels she isn't sexy at all. "I don't think I am sexy," she says.

"When I meet people, everyone says that I have sexy eyes. People believe what others can't do with their latkas and jhatkas; I can do with my eyes. My fans think my eyes have so much of sex appeal! But I don't think it's true. I don't feel that my eyes are really sexy," she confesses.

"Now, I think I have done enough of song and dance. What I need now is a full-fledged role to play. I want to do some good roles to prove my skills in acting also," says the beauty.

Nothing seems to be stopping Yana, be it language or her item girl tag. "I am not from the Hindi speaking background. So I have a serious problem in dialogue delivery. I have started learning Hindi and in some time, I will feel comfortable with the language. Moreover, I have been stamped as an item dancer which I need to break," says Yana.

So, how far can her sex appeal help her in Bollywood? "Combined with acting, it can take me to the greater heights," she quips.

Profile of Yana Gupta

She literally swept men off their feet when she appeared on the cover of Man's World, a high-profile lifestyle magazine, a couple of months ago.

Those who saw her stunning photograph wondered whether she belongs to India. If it's so, how come her body has European traits? If she isn't, what has been she doing here in India? The guessing game went on, but Yana would not have complained. She was the talk of the town and enjoyed the limelight.

Of course, it was not a flash in the pan experience for Yana who is already an established model. What makes her so sexy, I ask her. "People tell me my eyes, but I don't think so. I don't think I am sexy," she says with a smile, "But I know, if I want, I can get bloody sexy." Yana has been to almost every corner of the world. The travel bug bit her at sixteen and since then, she hasn't had a permanent domicile. Having spent her childhood in Brno, the second largest city in Czech Republic, Yana always dreamed of touching distant shores and exploring new worlds. She fulfilled her dream, and, in the process, accumulated fame and money, building a reputation as a supermodel in Europe and Japan.

Some cajoling from her best friend, a wannabe model herself, and Yana took off for Milan. During a 2-month stay there, she modelled for some of the big names in haute couture. A restless type who would not stick around in a place for too long, Yana soon found herself modelling in Vienna, Munich, Hamburg and Prague for clients like Calvin Klein and Victoria's Secret. "I drew too much attention in Europe. Actually, all I wanted to do was travel and learn new things," she says in her heavily accented English.

After graduating in park architecture and gardening at the age of 19, Yana packed her bags for Asia, the continent that interested her very much. Japan was her next destination where she spent almost 2 years, modelling for cosmetics (Shuemura, Shisheido, Nivea, Rexona) and for Toyota, Honda and Sony, to name a few.

She says, "I kept going back to Japan as the country offered me a good scope. I really appreciated the way I was treated there." A rather long stint in Japan, she started feeling weary and needed a break. Some of her friends suggested a spiritually rejuvenating trip to India. Soon, Yana found herself in Goa.

It was not long before Yana started getting modelling offers in India. Here, she met her to-be husband, artist Satya Gupta. (Yup, she's married!) Yana reveals, "It was a casual meeting. In fact, I had never thought of marriage at that point. I was in India for a vacation, and I never intended to get into any relationships."

However, after spending sometime with Satya, she knew that he was her knight in shining armour! So, they got married last October and now live happily in Pune. That's how Yana Synkova became Yana Gupta.

She has been doing quite a bit of modelling in Mumbai and appreciates the creativity of the professionals here. She finds Indians really friendly and thinks that the Indian advertising and creative industry holds a lot of promise. She explains to say: "In India, there is no dearth of exciting ideas; there's new stuff happening, with a lot of young talented people around."

Yana loves the spiritual touch to India and thinks there's no need to take a holiday as a life in India itself seems like one! Yana has already appeared in a mermaid video for Biddu, in commercials for Limca and MTV and is soon going to be launched as a Lakme model. Nevertheless, she does complain of the laid-back attitude. She laughs off to say: "It helps me because I feel much less stressed out here."

Yana comes across as a multi-faceted person who terms herself as a jack-of-all-trades. She can speak Japanese, Spanish, English and Hindi in bits and pieces, apart from her native Czech. Her varied interests lie in music (she used to play the flute and the piano), dancing, fitness and health, aerobics and computers.

Yana's idea of a perfect holiday is getting lost anywhere deep in the ocean or in the forests of Czech Republic; through the small towns, backpack in hand. As simple as that. Yana, a vegetarian, digs Indian food, but thinks it's oily and unhealthy. Currently, she is looking for a healthy way to Indian eating.

She sees her future in music and envisions turning a singer someday, but for now it's just modelling all the way.

Panaji: Writing a book, that too a not an autobiography but a culinary book, by an model-turned-item girl, seems to be an idea beyond digestion. But Yana Gupta is actually making it possible.

“It’s a fitness and health book… I have been into nutritions since I was 16. I am a fitness trainer and also an acupuncture practitioner who treats people,” Yana said.

This girl who shot to fame with her item number “Babuji Jaara Dheere Chalo” in 2003 said that her book would be ready by the middle of next year and Penguin publications is publishing it.

“In this book, I will advise people to eat nutritious food…. I am not advocating any dieting… In fact, people should eat five to six times a day in a smaller quantity, but under proper guidance,” Yana, who was down in Goa to promote her New-year eve show “Goa Vibe 2006” along with Pooja Bedi, stated.

Yana’s penchant for nutritious food led her to pen this book whose name, she wants to keep under wraps at this moment. “I began writing this book in February last year and later approached Penguin Publicatiions with whom I have entered into an agreement,” she stated.

Asked whether anyone is helping her to shape up this book, Yana replies negatively. “I have been consulting doctors before writing a few things,” she said.

The book largely talks of Indian food besides food from few other parts of globe.

“Indian food means a variety of Indian food… It talks of different parts of the country,” she revealed.

Yana terms her brainchild as “Health lifestyle book,” which will be printed in attractive colours with the help of professional designers.

If this is not enough, the Babuji fame girl has also inked an agreement with Indiagames company to develop health mobile downloads.

“It will be called Yana’s fitness zone wherein mobile-users will be able to get access to fitness and beauty tips at the click of a button,” she explains.

The zone will also talk of her experiences during shooting and traveling. “I have partnered with Indiagames company for this the zone. Later, it would be sold to the mobile service providers,” she said.

Though fully engrossed in her fitness adventures, Yana is not away from acting, music and glamour. “I am going to do an item number in the movie “Kaise Kahen”. Also I am planning an international music album… I want to go more into music now,” she said, refraining from further divulging details of her musical venture.

Yana should bring out a book with pictures like the first on page 16: Certain more copies will sell.
