Great song from the Telugu film "Tholi Mudhu" ( meaning "the First Kiss"). This is the last movie of the most beutiful actress Divya Bharathi.

In 1993, she passed away, even before this movie was completed. Due to this, some scenes were shot on another artist called Rambha. Coming back to the song, another awesome song with great orchestration by Maestro Ilaiyaraja and lovely rendition by Balu and Janaki.

Yes, that kiss was indeed fake; Divya was asked to kiss SRK in Deewana and she refused. She said that she'll never do such things and that the Indian audience won't appreciate such things. That is according to the article in my background! Wink Big Grin

Synopsis

Indra is the story of a fighter in factionalist Rayalaseema. This blockbuster film addresses an important social cause through its stunning screenplay, brilliant action sequences and subtle comedy. An action-packed thriller, Indra draws from the strength of a beautiful character portrayal by Telugu film legend Chiranjeevi. Indra is a winner of the Filmfare Awards and was nominated at the National Awards.

I recommend this movie - seen it recently.

INDRA - RAYALASEEMA FACTION FEUDS - Chiru's Powerful Portrayal

STORIES ON the Rayalaseema faction feuds are a hot favourite with producers who are interested in making action films, as it combines family-oriented sentimental drama and romance, as most of the feuds are between members of a single family.

The hero returns to his native place after spending some time incognito, elsewhere. Almost all the recent films are set in this mould. That way, Indra is no different.

But the difference lies in placing Chiranjeevi in situations that interest his fans, maintaining his basic image as both action and dance star.

Scriptwriter Chinnikrishna creates special situations for the megastar to entertain the audience. He is also shown as a leader with selfless service. Dialogue writers Paruchuri brothers penned dialogues with an intention - just as they did to late N.T. Rama Rao, before and after he joined politics.

Dialogue is the strength of this film. And Chiranjeevi takes enough care to effectively render them.

Indra is a hero of charitable disposition. His rivals in the area exploit this trait in him to first grab all his property and then to send him away from the town.

The film opens with child Indrasena's family and rivalry that seeps through three generations. And the grown up Indrasena Reddy (Chiranjeevi) is suddenly found on the banks of river Ganga in Kasi.

With him, we find his trustworthy lieutenant (Tanikella Bharani), his niece Nandini and nephew. An orphaned young man, and a damsel in distress (played by Sonali Bendre) also stay with him.

The screenplay accommodates the element of secularism, showing a Muslim leader as Indra's friend after a couple of tumultuous scenes regarding a love affair between Indra's nephew and this Muslim chief's daughter, which ends up in their happy marriage.

Indra also gets his sister married to the orphan. Arrives Snehalatha (Aarti), sister of Indra's archrival Veerasimha Reddy (Mukhesh Rishi) to reveal that the boy who married his sister is her own family member and he did it to take revenge. She also says that Indrasena has also fulfilled the promise of marrying her.

Then follows the flashback. Veerasimha Reddy (Mukhesh Rishi) and his four brothers are Indra's rivals. They want to kill Indra, as he killed their father Siva Reddy in a duel. Indra seeks the collector Chennakesava Reddy's (Prakashraj) help to solve water problem by building a reservoir.

Veerasimha Reddy owns huge lands, where the reservoir has to come up.

The brothers finally sign the documents only after Indrasena gives away his property and agrees to marry Snehalatha. Now, he has to fulfil the promise of marriage.

The narration takes a few more twists, after Indra gets back to his native town, before the desired climax - a war between the brothers and Indra - is set.

Brahmanadam, AVS and a couple of comedians entertain us in the Ganga Ghat scenes, in Benaras. The story has a surprise element in the role played by Sonali Bendre. For Chiranjeevi, this film is a sure comeback after some gap.

Aarti has a significant role as the girl who admires Indrasena at heart, but does not spare him on family issues. Sonali Bendre's role is reserved for a couple of dance duets.

The film is strong in its technical values and is also loaded with some impossibility, projecting the hero as all-powerful. Manisarma's music is soothing with some traditional touch. V.S.R. Swamy's photography is the highlight of the technical part of the film. source

In a career span of 28 years, Chiranjeevi has received rave reviews for his acting performances. Here are the most recent reviews from national newspapers and periodicals.

• The erudite newspaper, The Hindu covered a special story on Chiranjeevi titled ’Man of the Masses’ (dt. April 5, 2004) which said ’Reams have been written on this man yet his feet are firmly on terra firma."

• In India Today’s special issue dated 2nd March 2004, Chiranjeevi is listed among the Top 50 Power People of India. The magazine supported its feature with a description, which said he is one of the most powerful "because he is the highest paid film star in South, because everyone wants him to be MGR and NTR, because his films rarely flop."

• In September 1992, The Week magazine ran a cover story on Chiranjeevi titled - Bigger than Bachchan. Chiranjeevi was analyzed as the star drawing unparalleled fanaticism among masses and the consolidated number of eyeballs he attracts is supposed to be higher than what Tamil Super star Rajnikanth and Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan do.

• World Space’s website says of Chiranjeevi "The frenzy that Megastar generates amongst the masses makes him a force to reckon with. The phenomenal fan following places him on par with NTR, MGR and Rajnikanth.

Chiranjeevi chose to channelize the collective energy of his fan following towards social causes - the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust’s good work in the area of eye donations and blood donation is noteworthy.

Right now he’s also involved in the campaigns against Child Labour." source

Achievements in the area of social work

28 years of excellence in Telugu cinema has fetched Chiranjeevi a huge fan following and transformed him into one of the strongest opinion leaders in Andhra Pradesh. Chiranjeevi chose to streamline this fanaticism as a force for the social good thereby defying the tradition of super stars harboring political ambitions.

Chiranjeevi incorporated Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust on October 2nd, 1998. The Trust was set up with Blood and Eye Donation wings. Chiranjeevi’s devoted fans took this movement to great heights and are still working towards spreading awareness in the fields of Blood and Eye Donation. For the last seven years Chiranjeevi Blood Bank contributed 57,000 units on its own particularly to the people Below Poverty Line. The Blood Donation Wing has saved upto 3,500 lives across Andhra Pradesh by providing the required groups of blood within 30 minutes of receiving information.

While the state requires 5,00,000 units of blood per year, the awareness created by Chiranjeevi Blood Bank, pushed the availability to around 3,50,000 units which is a rare feat in itself. per unit just 500Rs

Chiranjeevi Eye Bank has been behind 1460 successful eye implants. It also works towards educating the masses on the importance and need of eye donation.

An appeal for eye donation and blood donation is part of every print of a Chiranjeevi film. Chiranjeevi also ensured an unprecedented amount of space in the news and electronic media for these causes.

Today Chiranjeevi takes more pride in the knowledge that his Blood Bank saved someone’s life than the fact that his film has gone for a Silver Jubilee.

Not limiting himself to the fantasy filled world of films, Chiranjeevi has involved himself in various public welfare activities and acted as a socially responsible citizen…this apart from his own Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust activities. Once convinced about the authenticity and motive of a campaign, Chiranjeevi has always associated with it.

In 2002, he was selected as the Ambassador of Andhra Pradesh to the International Labour Organization. He featured in short films as part of the ’International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour’. He took an oath, on the occasion, that he would not advocate or allow directly or indirectly the employment of child labour in his films and stuck to it so far. source

CHIRANJEEVI - BIOGRAPHY

Chiranjeevi, the mega super star of the Telugu film Industry aka Tollywood, was born on 22 Aug 1955 in Narsapur, a small village in West Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. Born as Konidela Siva Shankara Vara Prasad, eldest of five siblings to Venkat Rao and Anjana Devi, Chiru has two sisters and two brothers- Nagendra Babu a film producer, and youngest brother Pawan Kalyan an actor like himself.

Chiranjeevi completed his graduation from Y.N. College in Narsapuram and joined Madras Film Institute in Chennai for a Diploma in Acting. While studying he received a chance to act in the Telugu film 'Punaadi Rallu' directed by Raj Kumar, but his debut film release was ' Pranam Kareedu' in 1978. Subsequently, director Bapu signed him for 'Manavoori Pandavulu', which ran for 100 days and his portrayal of the character Parthu in the movie gained him some recognition. After this film, he played a lot of minor and negative characters in films such as 'Punaadi Rallu' (1979), 'Mosagadu' (1980), '47 Rojulu' (1981) etc. It was his acclaimed role in 'Initilo Ramayya Vidhilo Krishnayya' (1981) his first diamond jubilee film, and his role in 'Khaidi' (1983) which cemented his success in the industry.

Since then there was no looking back for him. His swift dance movements and risky hair raising fights evoked immense response from the spectators. Most of his memorable characters are that of tough guys. At a later stage in his career, he has also done some films with social messages like 'Indra' (2002) and 'Tagore' (2003). Throughout his career he has been through a lot of ups and downs but each time he came back with extra perseverance.

Marriage & Family

Chiranjeevi married Surekha, the daughter of veteran actor Sri Allu Ramalingaiah in 1980, and the couple is blessed with 2 daughters, Susmitha Vandana and Srija and a son, Ram Charan Teja. Chiru is a great believer of God, especially Hanuman.

Chiru didn’t limit himself to Telugu movies. He proved his mettle in Bollywood with the film 'Prathibandh' (1990), a runaway success with Juhi Chawla, 'Aaj ka Goondaraj' (1992), 'The Gentleman' (1994), a remake of the original in Tamil and few other flicks which did not make much ripple at the box office. Many of his films were dubbed to other languages especially Tamil, in the 80's beginning with 'Aarani Mantalu' and released simultaneously in both the states.

Chiranjeevi takes an active part in charity and social service fields. In October 1998, he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT), which comprises of Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks. It is the state's largest recipient of Blood and Eye Donations. In 2006, he also founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation (CCF) which was inaugurated by the then President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam.

He has won several awards and recognitions for his contribution to the Telugu Telugu film Industry. He has won over 10 Filmfare awards for his portrayals and A P Govt Nandi Awards for Swayankrushi (1987) and Apatbandhavudu (1992). His film 'Rudraveena' directed by K.Balachander, bagged the 'Nargis Dutt' award in the national arena. In January 2006, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India. In November 2006, Chiranjeevi was awarded with a honorary doctorate by Andhra University for his services to the Telugu film industry. His son Ram Charan Tej debuted into Telugu movies with the film 'Chirutha'.

The veteran with his career spanning over three decades and over 150 films, is still a name to reckon with, in Telugu films. For his fans he is 'Chiranjeevi'.. forever alive in their hearts.

It was a night to be remembered... Glamour, pomp and gaiety dominated the glittering ceremony of the 54th Filmfare Awards (South) on Saturday evening (August 4, 2007). The presence of superstars - Amitabh Bachchan along with his son Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Tamil superstar Vijay and Malayalam top star Mammootty – made the event more spectacular. The Convention Centre packed to its capacity. The brilliance of the stars, their bonhomie and humour. And the glamour girls of South Indian movies in their resplendent dresses couldn't be missed.

Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja who is making his acting debut also was present. Hottie Mamata Mohandas who hails from Kerala and is shining in Telugu films both as an actress and singer set the stage afire with her superb song and dance performance. Synopsis
Tagore (Chiranjeevi) creates his own vigilante military network called the Anti corruption Force (ACF) that eliminates the most corrupt individuals, from all walks of life, in a systematic manner. As pressure builds on Police and Government to track down the Man who masterminds these killings, Balbir Singh (Puneet Issar), is specially summoned to head the task. He is aided by Suryam (Prakash Raj) who, though being just a constable in the mammoth Police force, is compelled by his instincts to see through the underlying design. Together they unravel the mystery and unveil the phenomenon called Tagore, but not before Badrinaryana (Sayaji Shinde), the human face of evil, finds out that his revelry in the belief of Tagore’s death was a mistake he can never make amends for.

She started her career with music videos and ads. Shriya’s first movie was a Shukriya, Bollywood movie co-starring Aftab and Anupam Kher.

Shriya entered the Telugu film industry with 'Ishtam', earned star image with 'Santosham' and paired up with Chiranjeevi in 'Tagore'. Like this, she not only played opposite young heroes but also the top heroes in Telugu industry.

Lyrics & Trans....

La la La la
Phuulon Kaa Taaron Kaa, Sabkaa Kehnaa Hai
FLOWERS AND STARS, ALL OF THEM SAY
Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Bahnaa Hai
ONE IN THOUSANDS IS MY SISTER
Saari, Umar, Hamen Sang Rahnaa Hai
ALL OUR LIVES WE HAVE TO STAY TOGETHER x 2

Ye Na Jaanaa Duniyaa Ne Tuu Hai Kyuun Udaas,
THE WORLD COULD NOT KNOW WHY YOU ARE SAD
Teri Pyaasi Aankhon Mein Pyaar Ki Hai Pyaas,
IN YOUR THIRSTY EYES IS THE THIRST FOR LOVE x 2

La laa lala La laa lalaaaa

Aa Mere Paas Aa, Kah Jo Kehnaa Hai,
OH COME CLOSE TO ME, SAY WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY
Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Bahnaa Hai
ONE IN THOUSANDS IS MY SISTER
Saari, Umar, Hamen Sang Rahnaa Hai
ALL OUR LIVES WE HAVE TO STAY TOGETHER

Phuulon Kaa Taaron Kaa, Sabkaa Kehnaa Hai
FLOWERS AND STARS, ALL OF THEM SAY

Laa la la laa Laa la la laa
Ahhhh lala laa Ohhhh lala laa

Bholi-bhaali Jaapaani Gudiyaa Jaisi Tuu,
YOU ARE LIKE AN INNOCENT JAPANESE DOLL x2
Pyaari-pyaari Jaaduu Ki Pudiyaa Jaisi Tuu,
YOU ARE LIKE A SWEET POTION OF MAGIC

La la lalaa La la lalaa

Daddy Kaa Mummy Kaa, Sab Kaa Kahanaa Hai,
DADDY AND MUMMY AND EVERYONE ELSE SAYS
Ek Hazaaron Men Teri Bahnaa Hai
ONE IN THOUSANDS IS YOUR SISTER
------

(This below emotional song version is when the brother meets his sister after a long gap of many many years and finds out that his sister has gone off track in life with Hippy Culture and and got addicted to Marijuana .. etc and fails to recognize her own brother).

Jab Se Meri Aankhon Se Ho Ga_i Tuu Duur
SINCE YOU WENT FAR AWAY FROM MY EYES
Tab Se Saare Jivan Ke Sapane Hain Chuur
SINCE THEN ALL THE DREAMS OF LIFE HAVE BEEN SHATTERED
Aankhon Men Nind Naa, Man Men Chainaa Hai,
THERE IS NO SLEEP IN EYES AND NO PEACE IN MIND

Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Bahnaa Hai
ONE IN THOUSANDS IS MY SISTER
Saari, Umar, Hamen Sang Rahnaa Hai
ALL OUR LIVES WE HAVE TO STAY TOGETHER

Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan (the bond of protection in Hindi, Punjabi, Oriya, Assamese and most other Indian languages) is a Hindu festival, which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. It is celebrated on the full moon of the month of Shraavana (Shravan Poornima).

The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her as she presents sweets to her brother. The brother and sister traditionally feed one another sweets. It is not necessary that the rakhi be given only to a blood brother; any male can be "adopted" as a brother by tying a rakhi on the person, that is "blood brothers and sisters", whether they are cousins or a good friend.

Indian history is replete with women asking for protection, through rakhi, from men who were neither their brothers, nor Hindus themselves. In 16th century, Rani Karnavati of Chittor sent a rakhi to the Mughal Emperor Humayun when she was threatened by Bahadur Shah of Gujarat. Humayun abandoned an ongoing military campaign to ride to her rescue.

The Rakhi may also be tied on other special occasions to show solidarity and kinship (not necessarily only among brothers and sisters),
as was done during the Indian independence movement. source
