Now that Sallu has managed to finalise his co-star, he is helping Sohail in getting some more exciting names on board


SOHAIL KHAN'S production Mr Aur Mrs Khanna starring Salman Khan has been the subject of speculation for a long time now. Being backed by UTV and being directed by first-time director Prem Soni, the film has been in the news for its casting troubles.

While Salman had been finalised as lead actor, the hunt for a suitable leading lady had been on for quite some time. Sohail Khan hadn't been able to get any actress. So finally brother Salman had to step in. Kareena Kapoor has just been signed on for the role of Mrs Khanna. The buzz is that brother Salman had been pursuing several actresses for this role. It is only after Salman and Kareena patched up (they were not on talking terms since Salman and Kareena's ex-boy friend Shahid had a fight during a tour), did Sallu approach Kareena who then gave a go ahead.

Earlier, Priyanka Chopra was supposed to play the lead but when things went sour between Sallu and Priyanka, Sallu changed his mind on casting her. When Partner became a hit there was talk of Lara being considered for the role. But after Om Shanti Om released, Sallu was so impressed by Deepika Padukone that he decided that he had found his Mrs Khanna. But things seem to have gone wrong there as well.

Now that Salman has managed to finalise his co-star, he is helping Sohail in getting some more exciting names on board. After Bebo, the actor is sweet-talking his star friends to feature alongside him. Shah Rukh Khan leads the impressive list which includes Preity Zinta, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Sohail wants to cash in on the popular trend of using as many actors as possible but he does not have enough clout or star power to get the stars on board. So brother Salman decided to step in and ask his friends to do the cameos.

It wasn't difficult for Sallu to convince buddy SRK as he is known to make guest appearances for his close friends and mentors. SRK has just shot an item number in Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4 and will also do a cameo role in Mr and Mrs Khanna.

As far as the women are concerned, Sallu shares a longstanding association with Preity; the duo has featured in Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Jaane-E-Mann. Preity is also a close family friend and is a regular at the Khan household.

Following close on the heels of Kareena Kapoor's patch-up with Salman is Priyanka Chopra who also buried the hatchet with the actor recently. She has been in touch with Salman and agreed to do the film the moment Sohail Khan approached her. Meanwhile, Deepika had been a front runner ever since Sohail and director Prem Soni started casting for the film. Apparently, Salman is so very impressed with the newcomer's screen presence that he is pushing for her to be a part of this film. Mr and Mrs Khanna will go on the floors in March this year.
