The next step is to get a copy of the list of regions as they are numbered today or perhaps in the old days. Maybe DG can help here??Sometimes the signboards are posted as you travel with the region new numbers. This was posted by the Demerara bridge as you turn to go towards either Patentia or Parika. And on the stelling for Leguan, Wakenaam, and Essequibo. Did not check on the Berbice side for any signs identifying the new district numbers. Forgot! Can yu recall any thing?

I always heard that we have family in Philadelphia and Verginlogean... SP.

Maybe thats a good start to look for birth records. J. told me about the plantation record books, where the immigations are listed by plantations.

I did look thru several of the registers for Essequibo not realizing that it started with Boeroserie inclusive of Philadelphia and Verganoegen, Orangestein ++++++ Got my first shock on this scenario. Can't remeber the years.
I have an uncle whose parents were also indentured to Verganoegen. I prefer to stick to the BC registers as I found most of my info fm them. If no bc then the other pln record books.
More on this later.

Bhaijaan

It not just about yours and mine. It is about all of them that sacrifice so much yet remains unsaid, unknow and unspoken by descendants. The sad part is 'not knowing' but that except 'for a few', no one 'wants to know' their heritage. Our Jahajees struggle is the result of the bountiful life filled with abundance and indulgences that us the decendants enjoy today in these lands. Except for you, no one starts a thread on any topic in Genealogy forum. Big Grin Wink Roll Eyes Frown dunno
