Ladies, you would be surprise to know that all it takes is one name - if you can go back as far as the oldest living person in the family and ask questions.... then you can start your search. I am willing to help.

I probably got to go a real long way back to find Arthur in my tree!

Chands as in corner store - that's too bad! They were really nice people!

From these names lets say you start with Fernandes(z) - this look like the likely Madras connection. If you can get the birth certificate, of the place and date of birth, of he/she then we can start the search.

It's Fernandes with the (s) and it's probably 1800's... they linked with the Brazilians thus the s instead of the z as in Spanish.

That might more be Portuguese connection (Goa) which is your connection to India.

I remember the store it had entrances on both streets... I don't remember the owners' name but if I hear it it might jog something... why is your PM closed... I only am in touch and see Dalgetty often, saw 'Teacher' Jenny Rodrigues some years back... mid-80's not since then; but I'm sure I'll remember the name when I hear it... thoughts on the student now? Dalgetty says the same thing... I owe him a call on something I'm helping him with as a matter of fact. Smile
