"Def Jamz Hip Hop Blast" headed GT's way
An R&B - Hip hop concert of international magnitude is slated to be held in Guyana on the 15th December, 2007. The event, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Guyana, will predominantly feature performances by a small clique of female artiste signed to Jay-Z's Def Jam record label, aided by other artistes who are yet to be confirmed. The show titled "Def Jamz Hip Hop Blast," is collaboration between Sound Proof Music, a record label co-owned by local businessman Dennis Adonis, and several sponsors including Digicel, BET TV, and Banks DIH. Leading the line-up of performers is the New York based female R&B duo "2Ntrigue", who has been regarded by the recording industry as the hottest voices-on-the block, since Destiny's Child. Several of the group's recordings has held the number one to top ten spot on several leading international music charts in the United States and Europe. They are currently on tour in the U.S with Hip Hop superstar Jay-Z, but will break-off to be shuttled into Guyana several days before the show, to interact with local fans and the media. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, "2Ntrigue", like their Bajan counterpart Rihanna has spent most of their performing time in the U.S where they are signed to major record labels. 2'Ntrigue has performed and recorded with several international artiste, including renowned R&B performer Usher , Rupee, Junior Gong of the Marley Brothers, Akon, and Beres Hammond to name a few. As if that is not enough, the promoters have also booked Ras Spence out of Jamaica, and the Island's latest singing sensation Jovi Rockwell to compliment the show with her soothing voice. Jovi who became popular in Guyana with her hit single "You gonna need me" featuring Mr. Vegas, and "All about love" is also on a three months tour spanning the United States and Europe, and will arrive in Guyana at least two days before the show. She recently performed at Jamaica's Reggae Sun Splash and is currently the most sought-after female recording artiste in Jamaica. Jovi Rockwell has previously released over ten songs, most of which catapulted to number one spots worldwide, and is currently completing a fourteen song album. Guyana will be the second Caribbean country to host Jovi since she shot to fame. Tickets for the event is expected to be sold at half price, exclusively at selected Digicel's locations countrywide, and will be available for the full price of $2,000 elsewhere. Because of the generally unfriendly weather during the month of December, promoters are yet to decide on the best venue in Georgetown, for the show. [ GTVibes.com ] |
